Alternatives to Cosmetic Surgery

We fully recognise that interest in, and acceptance of, cosmetic surgery is growing astronomically, especially with regard to the kind of medical treatment being sought through the Internet. It is also perhaps the most un-regulated area of medical practice.

We have highlighted elsewhere on this site that cosmetic surgery is just one part of a wide spectrum of medical treatments sought abroad (click here to go to the discussion). Furthermore, we have also acknowledged how it is also at the contentious end of the same spectrum, despite the growing acceptance of cosmetic surgery, in part driven by celebrities.

As we have said elsewhere on this site, if you are sure it is cosmetic surgery you want, we hope you will find what you are looking for among our web pages, combined with a memorable holiday for recuperation.

But if it is cosmetic surgery you are interested in, are you fully aware of the risks? Have you researched what is involved? Are your eyes open to some of the horror stories abound? Take, for example, some recently published BBC news features:

We believe that the service providers promoted on this site are at the top of their field, otherwise we would not feature them. However, if you have any other reason to believe otherwise, please contact us. Nevertheless, when approaching any service provider, ask as many questions as you can. Research thoroughly. This, too, is what a recent BBC article has advised and concluded:

What is it that drives most people to seek cosmetic surgery? There are perhaps as many reasons as there are individuals seeking such procedures; many of them good reasons. For a lot of people we think there are.

We are especially concerned when we see research evidence, for example, that:

As to alternatives to cosmetic surgery, what we ourselves put to the fore are nutrition and exercise. If your lifestyle is not optimum with regards to diet and exercise there is so much more you can do to feel better within yourself and about yourself, to look better, to stay feeling younger for longer, and perhaps even to live longer.

Four of our favourite books are:

If you have not tried running, and are able to consider it, there is arguably nothing better to make you feel better about yourself (the “runner’s high” really does exist!)

A great place to find out more if you think you could be tempted and do not run already is www.runnersworld.com.

We are great believers in the value and healing power of herbs and flowers. Another book we are happy to recommend is “Secrets of Bach Flower Remedies” by Jeremy Harwood.

Rather than cosmetic surgery, would a simple spa holiday be enough to make you come back looking better and feeling better about yourself?

As always, we hope the information and links provided on this site will help you to make the decisions that are right for you.

Changes to lifestyle, especially nutrition, may be all that is needed to make you look and feel better:
